Boat Landing Inspection

Two Sisters Lake is surrounded by literally thousands of freshwater lakes, 1130 in Oneida County alone! Many have been infested with aquatic invasive species (AIS). Indeed, we have two of these non-native critters in our lake— rusty crayfish and Chinese Mystery and Banded Mystery Snails. Neither is particularly negative for the quality of our lake water, and both have been introduced by ducks who fly from lake to lake–not much we can do about those. There are serious dangers out there, though, that we can do something about. Invasive plants are a real and present threat to the quality of our water resource. They can “take over” and quell the growth of desirable plant life and choke the lake surface. This is not a distant threat to Two Sisters Lake.
