Enhanced Wakes

The TSLPOA Enhanced Wakes Committee (EWC) was formed in the summer of 2023 to address
concerns about the harmful impacts of wake surfing and other enhanced wake sports to our lake. These
include the increased risk of AIS through the use of ballast systems as well as the ecological damage to
the lake and shoreline and safety of other lake users. Joining with other lake associations and groups,
the EWC worked with the Town of Newbold officials to pass an ordinance in May 2024.

Specifically, the ordinance:

1. Prohibits the use of ballast tanks, ballast bags, fins and similar devices used to generate enhanced
wakes

2. Prohibits operating a boat in a bow-high manner to enhance wakes

3. Does not restrict activities like water skiing, tubing, wakeboarding with a tow rope, or even the use
of wake boats as long as they don't operate in a manner that generates artificially enhanced wakes

The EWC will continue to act as an educational resource for the TSLPOA about the ordinance and
monitor its effectiveness. It will also continue to work with other lake groups and town officials to make
sure enhanced wakes do not pose a threat to our lake or those who recreate on our lake. If you are
